Our Past Community Service
As PIKEs, we have a duty to support and uphold the communities that we reside in. We have hosted a wide variety of community service events, ranging from assisting other organizations to volunteering with the school.
We ramped things up in 2024. To start off the year, we cleaned a half-mile segment along the San Marcos River and surrounding area, which had been riddled with trash. In a similar manner, we also collaborated with another fraternity on campus, “FIJI,” to help clean the local downtown area of San Marcos.
In the fall semester, we hosted 4 separate events with the Concerned Veterans for America, a nonprofit that works to build community between veterans and help advocate for their voices to be heard. We also helped Texas State University in setting up and running events for Homecoming Week, such as the Soapbox Derby. Finally, we hosted a canned food drive and were able to donate 1000 lbs to the Hays County Food Bank, which led to the school awarding us an extra social event as a token of their appreciation.
This was good, but we have really gotten things going in 2025.

Along with raising the most philanthropy dollars in Spring 2025, we also had 672 community service hours, the most in the IFC and exceeding the closest fraternity by 200+ hours. We held various cleanups around San Marcos and helped TXST University President Kelly Damphousse and his wife run a “Casino Night” event for the Rotary Club of San Marcos at the San Marcos Regional Airport to support an endowment they started that helps provide scholarships to students raised in the Texas foster care system. On top of that, we participated in ‘Bobcat Build,’ a school-wide event held on April 5th that unites the university to engage in various service projects throughout the San Marcos community.

We didn’t slow down in the fall semester. Along with various cleanups, including one of Post Road, we went to help clean storage units on two separate occasions for the Helping Home Center, an organization that assists the homeless population in San Marcos. Additionally, we helped the university in running their Homecoming Week, particularly for the Soapbox Derby where our brother, Eli Vidales, brought home the first place trophy in one of Texas State’s oldest traditions. Not only did we have the most service hours of any chapter in the IFC twice in a row, but totalled a whopping 1,067 total community service hours for Fall 2025 alone, bringing the yearly total to 1,739 hours.
With several events already planned for Spring 2026, we hope to continue leading the Greek Life community at Texas State in this area.
